From dragon kilns and porcelain in China, to pottery in Delft

Following the exhibition New White, Keramiekcentrum Tiendschuur invites exhibitors to come and talk about their work and working methods.
Tineke van Gils will give an insight into her creative process.

With unique, spectacular film footage and stories, Tineke takes us to the ancient wood-fired tunnel kilns, the dozens of metres long dragon kilns in China. She was invited to turn 100 teapots twice from famous local porcelain in two of China’s most important porcelain regions. She repeated this concept in Delft, where she was allowed to mould traditional Delft pottery techniques to her liking in a Delft blue factory. Tineke shows how she developed on the pottery wheel from production turner to artist, while maintaining a preference for applied art with the teapot as a common thread throughout her oeuvre.
