Niek Hoogland, potter in Tegelen

Niek makes slib decorated pottery, a method that flourished in Tegelen and the nearby Niederrhein region in the 17th century.
A pottery tradition that focuses on a local/regional market and uses locally available materials.

Without feeling indebted to it, Niek uses this tradition as a source of inspiration for his work. He mostly works with locally available pottery clay, which he excavates and prepares himself.
This exhibition is to mark Niek’s 40th anniversary as a Tegel potter.

On Sunday 30 June, Niek will be at the exhibition from 2pm to talk about his work in this exhibition.
