Lecture on history of slib decorated pottery by Niek Hoogland
25 February | 14:00 - 16:00
Niek Hoogland, potter in Tegelen
Niek makes slib decorated pottery, a method that flourished in Tegelen and the nearby Niederrhein region in the 17th century.
A pottery tradition that focuses on a local/regional market and uses locally available materials.
Without feeling indebted to it, Niek uses this tradition as a source of inspiration for his work. He mostly works with locally available pottery clay, which he excavates and prepares himself.
This exhibition is on the occasion of Niek’s 40th anniversary as a Tegel potter.
Sunday 25 February 2pm, Niek Hoogland will give a lecture on the history of slib decorated pottery.
